The manufacturers of Today's Health and Today's Family products are required to have all products tested to insure they meet quality standards before the product will be considered for the program. To insure ongoing quality 25% of all Today's Health and Today's Family product is routinely and randomly purchased from store shelves by Raley's shopping service and submitted to ACTS for evaluation. Alcohol Warning Statements In October 1998 the FDA published a final rule that required alcohol-warning statements be placed on adult pain relievers, fever reducers and combination products. All products containing acetaminophen, aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen sodium or a combination of any of these were impacted. Over the past year the labels of Today's Health products have been revised to comply with the FDA rules. Caplet vs. Tablet Labeling The government Office of Generic Drugs maintains a firm position on the labeling of products which are in the form of a caplet (capsule shaped tablet). The statement of identity of the front panel of the label must use the term "Tablet" rather than "Caplet". The Office of Generic Drugs notes the term "Caplet" is not an official USP dosage form classification. This position is not equally enforced within the FDA as the FDA New Drug Division has allowed the use of caplet on national brand products. Different government regulators with differing viewpoints. What is "SPF"? Over exposure to the sun's invisible ultraviolet A (UVA) and ultraviolet B (UVB) rays can cause skin damage. The damage can be immediate as well as long term. Tanning occurs when the skin produces additional pigment (coloring) to protect itself against sunburn from ultraviolet rays. Most people benefit from sunscreens with sun protection factor (SPF) numbers of 15 or more. The SPF number gives you some idea of how long you can stay in the sun without burning. For example, if you normally burn in 10 minutes without sunscreen and you have applied a liberal dose with a SPF number of 15, you should be protected from sunburn for 150 minutes. Swimming and perspiration reduce the actual SPF value, even those that are water-resistant, so reapply often. Today's Health has a complete line of sun care products equal to the national brands in quality and protection. Today's Health Feminine Protection Today's Health will be introducing six new SKU's of tampons. The current 32-count package will be replaced with a 40-count package similar to the national brand. The new 40-count will be in three varieties; regular, super and new super plus and will be complimented with a 20-count package. TH Tampons Regular 40-count 0-46567-10139
